Ultra pure water generation from brine waste from Reverse Osmosis

ECOPRENEUR developed a Treatment System whose objective was the Recovery and Reuse of Water from the rejection brine of a Reverse Osmosis Plant. The quality of this rejection had a conductivity of 16,000 uS/cm, 120 NTU of turbidity, 1800 mg/L of total hardness and a content of 100 mg/L of reactive silica and this should be brought to a value of less than 50 uS/ cm as Ultra Pure Water, which would be used for the production processes of Lithium Salts of SQM La Negra. The scope of the contract consisted of the development of detailed engineering, Supply, Construction, Assembly and Commissioning of the system, with the challenge of recovering the maximum flow of water from the 600 m3/d available and which were disposed of in a pond with other rejects. The treatment plant was designed to be containerized and quickly assembled on site for an average hourly flow of 25 m3/h. The process considered several stages of treatment, considering UF, Filters, Osmosis and other systems designed by ECOPRENEUR to generate a solid system with high treatment availability that will achieve the agreed objectives.
